MUDDY LLAMA POTTERY

Cathey Chet believes working in clay is a deeply personal and creative experience. Her distinctive pottery – a simple, rustic line of stoneware – is perfect for her life here in the mountains of Western North Carolina. When you take home one of her pieces, you take home part of the Blue Ridge.

Cathy has been at the potter’s wheel since 2008. She is influenced by many other potters from the region and regularly travels to Seagrove, North Carolina, for inspiration. “I tried my hand with the wheel several years ago and quickly fell in love with it,” says Cathey. “I like to create simple, functional designs. The glazes that I create are inspired by our natural surroundings.” The blues, greens, and browns of Cathey’s ceramics are the colors of her mountains.

Cathy is also a full-time teacher and mother. She loves being both. And that’s not all that keeps her busy. Cathey has two llamas, Eclipse and Moonshadow, the namesake of her label: Muddy Llama Pottery. “It seems fitting to include them in my adventure, especially since they share my appreciation of the dirt and mud that others take for granted.”

All of Cathey’s pieces are high-fire stoneware, lead-free, and microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Enjoy using her pottery every day!
